The AS-1560-PA amplifier is a single channel, push-pull capacitance
probe amplifier for use with the Accumeasure 1500
rack system. The Accumeasure push-pull system uses a dual probe configuration
to measure the location of an un-grounded target. The two probes are next
to each other in a single probe housing assembly, with the two probes measuring
the distance to adjacent areas on the target surface.

 Capacitively coupled probe excitation currents flow from
one probe to the target surface and return from the target through the second
probe. A major advantage of this technique is that the accuracy of the target
position measurement is unaffected by whether the target is grounded or
un-grounded.
A coaxial cable from each probe connects to one
of the two BNC receptacles on the front panel of the AS-1560-PA. Standard
0.050 range probes are standard. Other custom probe configurations and ranges

Non-contact un-grounded target thickness measurements are easily
performed using two AS-1560-PA probe amplifier modules in conjunction with
an AS-1540-SA summing amplifier module. |
